Tomtom navigation systems is a common term to all those interested, at least those who are interested in the automobile industry. We have brought forward proof that the mass products of the consumer section could build a basis for professional fleet communication with CoTrIS, even for industries with several hundreds of transport units. With Tomtom providing its Link boxes and the vehicle hardware as well as the positioning communication ability, it enables us to turn the usage and aggregation of data into an efficient and integrated transport management. From automatic transmission of orders in the truck navigation to status reports and their respective system based subsequent processing to refuelling stops and travel time scheduelling and controlling, the functions of CoTrIS have been adjusted successfully for the cooperation with Tomtom Work.
Complete CoTrIS functionality, low hardware and communication costs, high level of the driver´s acceptance because the orders are transferred into the navigation, the training effort is also very low. All these statements are strong and convincing arguments for this system’s assignment.
The integrated usage and the enhancement of the Tomtom Work functionality in CoTrIS road has an additional use which single programs are only capable of to a certain limited extent. I consider both systems to be extremly profitable. Their interaction will be a real competitive advantage.
